Brewing Magic: Mokkamestarit at Magia 2025

Now that the quiet season has arrived, we finally have time to reflect on one of the highlights from last year: our first collaboration with Magia 2025, the Nordic Magic Convention, held at Hanasaari, Finland. Over three magical days, the venue was filled with energy, anticipation, curiosity, and awe. Professional magicians, hobbyists, and audiences from all over the world gathered to celebrate the art of magic, and we got to add a little magic of our own: Finnish specialty coffee.

As one of the event’s proud sponsors, our goal went beyond simply showing up. We wanted to share a piece of Finnish culture with an audience that already appreciates craft and detail, yet may not have explored the art behind their daily cup. It was a perfect match: magic and coffee both have the power to spark wonder, create conversation, and leave lasting impressions.

Specialty coffee remains a niche, even in Finland, where people drink the most coffee in the world. Introducing our beans, the variety of origins and blends, and subtle flavor profiles was an exciting challenge. Some attendees were long-time coffee drinkers, while others had never thought beyond their morning cup. Watching their reactions, for instance, eyebrows raising at unexpected fruity notes, smiling at guessing correctly the chocolate aroma reminded us why we do what we do.

Even more rewarding was discovering hidden enthusiasts: home baristas quietly experimenting with brewing techniques and methods, but keeping it largely to themselves. Seeing them light up while discussing beans, grind sizes, and aromas felt like uncovering a secret society of coffee lovers within a secret society (magic). It truly was a refreshing experience for all to talk about more of the things we love besides sharing magic methods and ideas.

• Finlandia Blend – smooth, chocolatey, no-brainer for a daily coffee. We are proud to share this blend with friends around the world.

We even made a few of these as gifts for the judges and competitors to take home because we wanted to create a magical memory that lasted longer than the event.

Magia 2025 wasn’t just about magic or coffee, it was about connection, curiosity, and shared experiences. From striking up conversations over the aroma of freshly roasted beans to watching the stage filled with magic, we realized that both coffee and magic share something fundamental: they bring people together, spark wonder, and create lasting memories.

We left the convention inspired, caffeinated, and eager for the next opportunity to bring Finnish coffee culture to the world. Events like Magia 2025 remind us that behind every bean and every cup, there’s a story of craft, passion, and community waiting to be shared.
