Coffee courses

The Mokkamestarit courses held at the roastery are meant for everyone keen on developing their coffee brewing skills, learn modern ways to make drinks, and to advance their coffee expertise. Coffee instructor at Mokkamestarit -courses is Niina Varjoranta, SCA certified barista. Courses are held at our Roastery (Kuukuja 8, Tampere).

The courses are ideal for people who have a connection with coffee from barista at a cafe or restaurant, students oriented towards the sector, to teachers in educational institutions, and home baristas.

We also offer customized courses & workshops for companies and small groups.

Fall/Winter 2024 courses & workshops  will be published in the fall 2024.

Spring 2024 courses and workshops

Registration for spring courses starts on Monday 11.3. at 12. Registration for the courses & workshops by claiming a place for the course in the online store. Please note that courses and workshops are held mostly in Finnish.

Cupping workshop

In the workshop, we delve into coffee using the cupping method. We get to know the standardized method of cupping, i.e. coffee tasting, and evaluate a few coffees by using the cupping method. We go through the basics of coffee, from the plant to the cup.

The workshop is suitable for everyone interested in coffee. 

After the workshop, the opportunity to shop in the roastery shop - we offer participants a 20% discount on coffee and tea during the evening.

The course introduces you to the journey of coffee: the background of the types of coffee and a brief introduction to the different processing methods of coffee.

Let's learn the cornerstones of coffee making:
o Choice of coffee
o Dosing & choice of grinding coarseness
o Equipment cleaning
o Choosing and measuring the right extraction ratio
o The importance of clean water

Going through different brewing methods and making coffee with selected (2-3) methods, e.g. Aeropress, Chemex, Hario V60, Clever Dripper, French press.

The workshop is suitable for everyone interested in coffee.
